The Isle of Wight

The Isle of Wight is a wonderful, diamond shaped island off the south coast of England. The ferry trip makes the Isle of Wight seem like a real escape.

The Island has large sandy beaches, small quiet coves and also some of the most beautiful countryside. The variety and beauty attracts visitors all year round and often more than once a year.

In the East of the Isle of Wight the main towns are Seaview, Bembridge, Sandown, Shanklin, Ryde, Borthwood, Godshill and St Helens. This side of the Island is best known for its long sandy beaches and seaside holiday resorts. However, the East side of the Isle of Wight also offers rolling countryside and the South Downs which attract walkers and cyclists.

The South of the Isle of Wight also enjoys spectacular beaches, especially those found in Ventnor and St Lawrence.  A self catering holiday in the south of the Isle of Wight also gives you a chance to enjoy the many natural attractions in this area, such as the Botanical Gardens.

In the West the coast line is less developed and allows for a return to nature and an enjoyment of the unique environment on the Isle of Wight. Visiting the West of the Isle of Wight allows you to explore the natural environment, walking, fishing, swimming or relaxing on tranquil beaches.

The North of the Isle of Wight, around Cowes and Gurnard offers a great view of the Isle of Wight’s maritime life. Isle of Wight Yachting and Sailing is a popular draw and in the North of the Isle of Wight you will also find several or the best restaurants on the Isle of Wight as well as good pub food.
